FOTC Projects/Partners
It's Time to Take Action - Make a Difference in Your Community!
The Chesapeake Bay is the continent's largest estuary and one of our greatest national treasures.
The Watershed Region is an extraordinarily beautiful, dynamic and diverse natural environment covering
six states, 64,000 square miles, with a population of 16 million people.
The goal of FOTC is to identify, fund and implement hands-on environmental restoration and educational
projects throughout the entire Chesapeake Bay watershed, beginning at the local level. FOTC's objective
is to engage neighborhoods, private individuals and groups, businesses, non-profits, schools, churches,
and local, state and federal governments to participate in restoration activities that protect the heritage
and quality of life built upon a healthy Bay system.
By offering support and tools to the citizens of the Chesapeake Bay Region, our aim is to secure economic
prosperity, live in communities where the quality of life is high, and ensure an environment that is clean
and available for your enjoyment. We do this by funding grass-roots projects through grants and donations
to watershed and environmental groups, community organizations, schools, churches and public agencies.
Your tax-deductible contributions support local hands-on projects such as:
- Tree Planting
- Water Monitoring
- Wetland Restoration and Preservation
- Planting River and Bay Grasses
- River and Stream Cleanups
- Storm Water Management
- Rain Gardens
- Restocking Fisheries
- Living Shorelines
A Shared Community Vision
Embrace your stewardship responsibilities to your community, environment, health and economy.
Supporting community-based initiatives promotes local decision-making. It is a shared community
vision that provides the map which allows a community to control its own destiny, to conserve
the region's heritage, to tell its stories, to retain the places that are special to people,
and to maintain its economic base for present and future generations. It is an opportunity for
residents, governments, civic organizations, industry and small businesses to work together to
establish actions for stewardship and management of valued resources that affect the Chesapeake
Bay and the quality of life of each citizen in the Region.
Together, we will make our communities a healthier place to live.
